Weymouth United Masonic Lodge A.F. & A.M.
Most visitors to the Town of Weymouth are often surprised to hear that it is the second oldest town in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, being organized in 1635. Equally surprising might be the fact that Freemasons have played an important role in the town's development for over 200 years. In 1994 Orphans' Hope and Wessagusset, the original Weymouth Lodges, merged to form Weymouth United Masonic Lodge.
Today, the Masons of Weymouth United Masonic Lodge continue to practice their craft at the same location their forefathers did in 1884. Carrying on the tradition of teaching good men to be better through the symbolism of constructing King Solomon's Temple, and working within the community to perpetuate the positive development of their town is still their grand aim. Nowadays, however, the Weymouth Masons are just as likely to travel down to New Jersey and assist those ravaged by the devastating Super Storm Sandy as they are to present a scholarship to a college bound Weymouth citizen.
Their charitable work ranges from honoring military veterans to child identification programs.
Of course, like all good Masons, the Weymouth Brethren still find time for refreshment. On the third Tuesday of every month in between the work of the evening, there is a hearty meal and fellowship shared together. Feel free to contact us to learn more.
