Washington Lodge A.F. & A.M.
On March 13, 1796, eight Freemasons banded together in Roxbury to create a lodge to honor one of the greatest war heroes of the time, George Washington. Shortly thereafter, Paul Revere, the Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts at the time, granted Washington Lodge a charter.
This Lodge holds the distinction of being one of only 21 lodges chartered by Paul Revere, and one of only six lodges dedicated to George Washington while he was still alive. The Lodge remained in Roxbury until 1966 when it moved to the historic battle green in Lexington.
Today, the members of Washington Lodge are a diverse group of men from all walks of life in the Lexington area. You will find teachers, computer programmers, accountants, bankers, lawyers, and pilots amongst their ranks. Washington Lodge holds many social functions throughout the year, such as a Christmas party, summer cookouts, golf outings, dinner dances, and formal dinners. Events are typically open to family and friends of members.
