Dalhousie Lodge F. & A.M.
Dalhousie Lodge F.&A.M. was established in 1860 in Newton, Masachusetts. Named after the Lord Ramsay, Earl of Dalhousie of Scotland, the Lodge follows many Scottish traditions, both Masonic and cultural. Dubbed "The Friendly Lodge" many years ago, like most all Masonic Lodges Dalhousie prides itself on being a warm and welcoming oasis for its Brethren and guests. We share a beautiful and spacious Masonic building with several other Masonic Lodges and bodies. The building was erected at the close of the 19th century and majestically stands at the corner of Walnut and Newtonville Avenue; an icon of the Newton landscape.
The Lodge has a rich history which may be found at our website dalhousielodge.org. We also produce an informative and educational Notice which is sent to members each meeting month. Dalhousie Lodge holds many fellowship and charitable events as well as participates in the events of Massachusetts Freemasonry and our Masonic District.
Like all of Masonry, our members run the entire gamut of occupations and fields of industry. We are an ethnically diverse Lodge; of course, by design. We celebrate this diversity especially through themes for our minthly dinners such as Oktoberfest, Chinese New Year, the Wee Feast of the Earl of Dalhousie (Scottish Night), New England Celebration (lobster night!!), and others.
We also take "field trips" to other Lodges with whom we have become especially close such as King Solomon Lodge in Somerville and Ceslestial Lodge #2 (Prince Hall) in Roxbury. These visits enrich us all through expanded Brotherly Love and are educational, inspiring, and just plain fun.
We have a vibrant and young line of officers, yet the Lodge runs from 18 years old to 90 years old, and we all have a great time sharing stories as well as our experiences, often departing from our meeting and continuing at a local restaurant.
Dalhousie Lodge is well poised to help our members and community with even greater gusto over the next many years.
