Columbian Lodge A.F. & A.M.
Columbian Lodge, located in the heart of Boston's historic downtown, is one of the oldest Masonic Lodges in the United States. The Lodge was founded by M.W. Paul Revere, who served as the Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts from 1795 to 1797. He is not only a transcendent figure in the early history of the United States (his "Midnight Ride" warned of the start of the Revolutionary War), but also a very significant contributor to Masonry in the New World. He described his election as Grand Master of Massachusetts as "The greatest happiness of his life."
Columbian Lodge is an active, hard-working Lodge, well-known for a rich tradition of ritual and charity. Our monthly meetings consist of actively bringing in new candidates, conducting the normal business of the Lodge, and planning charitable events and contributions. Our Officers meet additional times during the month to prepare themselves for the meeting ahead. We donate both time and money to various charities, concentrating our efforts in the Boston area - specifically, we have hosted a basketball tournament for the Home for Little Wanderers for the last 12 years! We have also begun to get more active with Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross, myCHIP, and many others.
Columbian Lodge is also known for its rich tradition of fellowship, taking time to enjoy our lives both within and without the Lodge. After our work of the evening is done we take refuge in the fruits of our labor and enjoy dinner, merriment and bonding with our fellow Brothers. We enjoy entertainment during dinner such a bag pipes, steel drum players, and the occasional story teller or comedian. Family is very important to our Members, and so we involve the wives and significant others by hosting Ladies' Nights periodically throughout the year to demonstrate to the women in our lives how important they, and their support for what we do, truly is to us.
